On April 16th, my oldest son has a field trip to the state capitol in Springfield. I’m amazed by this. When I was in school we went on the same field trip to our state capitol, but since we lived in Salt Lake already, it was like a 20 minute bus ride. This is a 2.5 hour bus trip and they won’t get back until many hours after school is out. Just seems like a “big” trip for 10 year olds.

I didn’t sign up to go as a chaperon. I have 2 smaller children at home with no one to watch them. But I am thinking about following the bus down, but not to go on the tour. Why would I even consider such a thing…Well, the closest “Sonic” to our house is in Springfield. Yes, THAT “Sonic”. We had them all over in Arizona. We even had one or two pop up in Utah. But they don’t exist by the truckload here in Illinois. I’m not sure driving 2 1/2 hours for lunch is the brightest idea, as the added $50.00 in gas might just make that burger a little out of my price range, but oh…the Banana Cream Pie Shake…that’s well worth $50.00!!
