I mentioned in another blog post that I accidentally discovered the Chef’s Valentine’s Day surprise when I looked at the bank account and found flowers and chocolates had been ordered. I’m sure this seems like old hat to a lot of people, but you have to understand, I threatened the man before we got married to never buy me flowers. They cost so much, and they die. Last year was the first time he actually ventured away from my threat. On our 10 year Anniversary I got my first ever flower delivery, and it was awesome! This year he also purchased chocolate from a local company, although, I didn’t tell him I’d found that purchase.

I’ve never gotten chocolate as a gift. Usually the Chef makes his own, which is amazing–but it’s kind of fun to get the little heart shaped box. There is however, a new chocolate on the market that intrigues me. It’s called Intentional Chocolate and it appears to be the “Zen” of all other chocolates. Their claim is big…Just one 1oz daily serving of Intentional Chocolate has been clinically proven to make you more energized with a heightened sense of well-being after only 3 days! Let me just mention here, that I am totally willing to put this to the test. I know, I’m totally willing to eat chocolate everyday–so it shouldn’t be too hard. They offer a calming, more energetic life, and who isn’t for that?

It’s too late for Valentine’s Day tomorrow, but this is something I really do want to look into!

When you are married to a Chef there is no holiday that you observe on the actual “holiday”!! It’s been over a decade, so I do have to say I’m pretty used to it. But what is nice is that even when we don’t get to celebrate Valentine’s on the exact day, the Chef really goes out of his way to make the night special.

I’ve never been much of a fresh flower girl. In fact, when we were engaged I let him know in no uncertain terms that I didn’t want him to send me flowers. Mainly because you get a little bouquet for $100. He has only sent me flowers once, but he’s brought them home quite a few times. What I do enjoy is just a nice date night out without the kids. I don’t require much, but he does try to make it a little more special by making reservations at a restaurant we normally wouldn’t be able to splurge on and maybe a little limo ride to and from.

Gentlemen…if you have never surprised your gal with a limo let me tell you, you don’t know what you are missing. There is just an atmosphere about a limo that brings the night to an all time high. Plus without one of you having to keep your eyes on the road, there’s a little time for other Valentine activities like snuggling!!

Even if you aren’t here in the Chicago area, you can find a limo service near you. There’s a limousine service New Jersey, New York any major city will have them. There are multiple styles available, my boys especially love the black ones.

Trust me–this is a surprise that she will never forget, especially if you are stuck at the office on Valentine’s Day!!
